You decided to start up from home this morning so you can be at the client’s office by 10 a.m. You clear some mail and prepare for your meeting with the client. A quick call with a colleague to go over some things regarding an upcoming project at a client. Then it is time to jump in the car so that you are on time at the customer. After the meeting with the client, you drive on to a prospect for a first meeting. Wondering what you can do for this relation! It helps that you know the industry, you have enough technical knowledge to sense what this potential customer needs. By the time you get back to the office, it is lunchtime. Coincidentally, the treat of the month is ready! In the afternoon I work on a few quotations, call some customers and at the end of the afternoon I have a project meeting with colleagues from the Projects & Engineering department. The day has flown by again! You won’t be here for the rest of the week because tomorrow you and a colleague will get on a plane to visit some customers abroad! As Sales Engineer you are partly responsible for the sales policy. This commercial, -technical, -as well as executive function is aimed at achieving an optimal course of diverse sales activities within the sales divisions, Oil & Gas and Industrial. You often coordinate multiple sales activities simultaneously, both in the field and in the office within Europe. You identify and respond to developments, you actively approach existing and potential customers and are responsible for quote management. Of course you do not do this alone. Together with 3 colleagues you form the Sales team and you act as a connecting factor between the various supporting disciplines / departments. You are also the connecting link between the client and Bakker Oilfield Supply Coevorden.
A commercial/technical education is useful but if you can demonstrate in some other way that you have the necessary qualities, that is of course fine too. Perhaps you have worked for years as an operator in the field or workshop and now want to combine this with your commercial qualities. You constantly see opportunities and possibilities. You have a customer-oriented attitude and are strong in bringing together customer wishes and technically appropriate solutions. You don’t mind going out on your own but also feel like a fish in the water within your team. You not only feel like a fish but are also a chameleon. You communicate easily both internally and externally at different layers in an organization. In addition, you can easily switch to the English language and you also get by with the German language.
